The drive from Nevada City to South Lake Tahoe is about 100 miles. As you can see, my hike was longer than that. My best guess is that I walked about 180 miles. |

The first leg of the journey, going West from Nevada City, was really a rather uneven and
not-very-straight combination of trails with some cross-country hiking and a few miles on
dirt roads, taking about four days. The second leg was a straight three-day shot South on
the Pacific Crest Trail. The third and final leg consisted of about half the Tahoe Rim Trail,
from Tahoe City at the North-Western corner of the Lake to Kingsbury Grade at the South-Eastern
corner.
