| Starting just outside of Nevada City, California, I hiked up the South Yuba River canyon, famous for its countless Emerald Pools. The trail runs parallel to the river about halfway up the North side of the canyon, which, with the exception of a handful of places, is very steep or vertical. So here I was, toiling my way up the South Yuba River gorge in 95 degree heat, with a full view of the most gorgeous but entirely unreachable swimming holes... |
